Near downtown Columbus, Harrison West is a vibrant neighborhood offering the perfect blend of urban living with access to lush green spaces. Its proximity to Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center and the Columbus business district makes it an ideal location for work and leisure.
Designated on the National Register of Historic Places in 1975, Harrison West is known for its colonial and Victorian homes, many built around the turn of the century. Often surrounded by neat boxwood hedges and shaded by tall elms, these homes showcase architectural styles such as Richardsonian Romanesque and the American Four Square. The neighborhood also features newer, modern homes and riverfront condos. Home prices range from under $350,000 for three-bedroom prewar colonials needing some TLC to nearly $1 million for upscale condos in new industrial-style developments along the river. Harrison Park, the largest park in the neighborhood at 5 acres, includes a playground, kayak launch, and public art installations created by students from the Columbus College of Art and Design.
The main thoroughfare, 3rd Avenue, is a walkable strip lined with trees and wide sidewalks. Heading east leads to the Short North Arts District, a bustling area filled with art galleries, restaurants, bars, live music venues, and shops. Along the way, you'll find Katalina’s, a local favorite housed in a century-old gas station known for its Pancake Balls and breakfast creations. Further along High Street, you’ll discover three of Eater’s 12 Hottest New Restaurants in Columbus, including Service Bar, which offers craft cocktails and upscale bar food in a historic oak-bar setting. High Street also leads to a Kroger to the north and the North Market Downtown farmers market to the south.
